HORIZON: To Infinity and Beyond is a movement that aims to raise the public's awareness and advocate against space tourism led by tycoons Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos—founders and CEO of SpaceX and Blue Origin, respectively—and its devastating effects to our environment and to science, as a whole.

Furthermore, the movement aims to promote and advocate for space exploration. Unlike space tourism, space exploration holds scientific significance and importance. By doing so, we increase the chance of turning our civilization interplanetary, thus, perpetuating our species

Space Tourism: One Small Step for Man, a Giant Leap for Capitalism

While we face global crises: billions of people living in poverty, global warming, a pandemic, racial and socio-economic discrimination, and many more, billionaires are squandering cash and resources on launching themselves into space for fun. This blatant flaunting of wealth poses danger to our environment, society, and the scientific community.

The carbon footprint of flying a rocketship is 100(!) times higher than a 12-hour long flight. Once space tourism takes off—in fact, two all-civilian flights have already been launched by SpaceX and Blue Origin—air pollution will only get worse. Space tourism also has devastating effects to our society and the scientific community—it has capitalism written all over it. We have seen this happen to medicine; greedy tycoons getting their hands on breakthroughs, and then monopolizing them and their market. It may not be much right now, but once they get their hands on spaceflight, there is no stopping them. If this continues, even the air we breathe might be privatized and marketed by the greed of capitalism.

Space Exploration: One Small Step for Man, a Giant Leap for Mankind

The problems that we face could be funded by the millions of dollars spent on touring through space. An orbital trip costs 58 million dollars according to William Shatneer, an actor that previously experienced a trip through space tourism. We should start thinking about the betterment of our future, and this could be achieved through a joint collaboration of the community to stop space tourism and to focus that money on solving the sustainability of human nature. Join us today, a planning campaign that will bring together a community that will speak against the wasted money that only serves as an enjoyment of a small number of people, whereas this money could serve as the foundation of life and sustainability of human life.
